"Boxster Spec Racing” BSR Class Rules for 2009
(Rev 6)
Class Purpose
The purpose of this Spec Class is to provide a competitive racing class where the cars are reliable and performance potential is as even as possible. These rules are intended to control costs and remove any performance advantage from the cars so that driving ability and suspension set up are the greatest factors in determining race winners. This class will be referred to as the BSR class.

*Tire size waiver for PCA Club Racing*
This section pertains to the testing of an alternatetire size for data collection purposes of the Boxster Spec RulesCommittee. Participation in thetire testing and data collection is purely voluntary for our drivers. Based on the tire testing data in 2009,a determination will be made for the 2010 season whether to adopt thealternative tires/wheel sizes or to keep the current staggered setup. Participation in the tire test does notguarantee that the square configuration will be in effect for 2010.
With the above statement in mind, PCA Club Racingofficials have approved the 255/40/17 tires sizes using the stock rear orequivalent 17x8.5 inch – 20 lbs minimum – 48-50mm offset wheels on all 4corners of the car as a recognized alternative tire and wheel configuration forthe 2009 season..
Several drivers have tested the 255 “square” setup and report back that thetires are (1) less expensive per tire to purchase and (2) wear significantlybetter as you can rotate the tires front to back. Our early testing indicateswe will get an additionl 1 to 3 track days out of a set of tires, which issignificant savings on tire consumption.
What this means for PCA Club Racing is that if all participants in the racedecide to drive on the 255 “square” alternative, the cars will be deemedconforming to rules. Conversely, if a driver or group of drivers decide to raceon the current default 225/255 setup, this default setup will take precedenceand be the conforming specification for all cars at the event.
If anyone has any questions please contact your regional rules committeerepresentative or me directly. Our regional representatives will work with PCAofficials and race participants to administer this rules allowance. With thisrules allowance from PCA, we can gather significant race condition dataconcerning tire wear from several drivers with regards to the “square” concept.

The BSR Rules Committee willconsist representative of every region wherein there are a significant numberof Boxster Spec cars. Minimum Rules Committee configuration: 2 builders, 3drivers.
The Rules Committee will collect and assess ruleschange suggestions from the active drivers on an annual basis per the followingguidelines:
